You already watch Pensado’s Place, right ?
If you don’t – you should!
To find out why, just watch the video above, then subscribe to the YouTube channel and start digging into the archives – I’ll give you a couple of my personal favourites below.
But why did I pick this particular episode ?
Because it features my friend Graham Cochrane, from the excellent Recording Revolution website.
If you get my newsletter you’ll already know about Graham, I’ve been recommend his posts and products for years. And that’s because they’re great ! The unofficial catchphrase of this site is “it ain’t what you use, it’s the way that you use it”, but Graham takes that idea to new heights. So much so that he even just did a series of videos based around the idea of building a home studio for just $300.
And he’s right, you can. Because the truth is, we can get technically better audio quality from a budget laptop with some shareware software these days than even the top studios in the world had access to, back when some of the greatest albums of all time were recorded!
So why aren’t we all making recordings that great ?
Because it’s not about the technology.
It’s about great songs, great performers, great arrangements, and using your ears to make your music sound great. You can get superb results recording and mixing almost anywhere.
Graham proves that, and he helps other people achieve it too, and I’m so pleased his contribution has been recognised by Dave and Herb on their show.
You’ll be glad you did.
Oops, I almost forgot – as promised, here’s a few of my favourite guests on Pensado’s Place:
Ken Scott (Bowie, The Beatles, Supertramp… the man is a legend!)
And there’s plenty more where these come from…
