OK, enough blowing my own trumpet – here are some more of my favourite other Production Advice resources online:
Recording & Production
Sound On Sound – Simply one of the best recording & mixing resources on the ‘web. Massive archives of past articles from the magazine – insightful gear reviews, techniques, interviews with bands and producers and more. Best of all are the forums – lively, well-organised and with some great contributors. Outstanding.
RecordProduction.com DO NOT visit this site unless you have several hours to kill. Seriously. Over 175 high-definition video interviews with top producers, by people who know exactly what they’re talking about. This is audio geek heaven.
Mix Online – Another fantastic site from one of the best audio magazines – Sound On Sound just noses ahead for us because of the forums, but this is another must-visit site. Both Mix and SOS feature so much material it can be tough to know where to start. Keep an eye out here for blog posts rounding up some of the best content.
Music News & Web 2.0
New Music Strategies – Incisive, provocative thinking about the “New Music Industry”. Why might you want to give your music away for free ?
stevelawson.net – Steve Lawson’s blog is the one to read if you’re interested to know how to make a career from Web 2.0 music and social media.
New Music Ideas – Reviews and opinions of websites designed to help independent artists and music businesses.
Digital Music Distribution
All these sites have different features and business models – we’ve added a few comments on the ones we know a little about, but you will need to check them out carefully yourself and decide which is best for you.
BandCamp – Slick, easy to use, great & carefully chosen feature-set – 100% free. Check out their video introduction
Last.fm – Music recommendation service – earn royalties for fan plays of your music
