I have only recently discovered the pre-delay setting on my reverb plugin. I tend to use it a lot now as it makes the presence of the reverb less noticable but I still get the spatial effects.

No, that won't help. I haven't listened to much of their stuff - give me a track title and I'll take a listen and see what I hear.

What if you're using a lot of reverb on the lead vocals(ex. Fleet Foxes) but you want to avoid smearing the main vocal? Do you duplicate the track and make one completely dry and apply all the reverb to the duplicated track? PLEASE HELP!

Always EQ the return

"I always bring the reverb return up on a stereo channel (rather than routing it straight to stereo) and then EQ it "... definitely agree

Thanks for the wonderful article.

I've definitely found delays on vocals to be a really good option instead of reverb, particularly playing live in pubs and clubs; so often you hear pub singers swamped in so much reverb that they sound like they're singing in the local swimming pool. Yuk!
