Welcome To Production Advice
So here it is – new ideas, new site, new services, new blog !
If you’ve come here from my Mastering Blog or Twitter, you probably already have a fair idea what this site is all about – if not, hopefully it’s fairly self-explanatory.
The aim is to offer anyone access to the opinions of professional music producers – giving expert, impartial advice on recording, mixing and production to anyone who needs it – via this blog, carefully selected resources and a unique package of affordable services. I’ve posted an introduction here:
Mission Statement – Why This Site Is Here
As far as the blog goes, I’m seriously excited about the opportunity the different focus of this site gives me to talk about a wider range of subjects than fit into the Mastering Media Blog. Production, mixing and recording techniques of course, but also performance issues, arrangement, and even songwriting. I have some great guest bloggers lined up once the ball is rolling, and am also looking forward to tackling some even more diverse topics – for example, there’s a wealth of information on the ‘net now about new ways for independent musicians to be successful without signing a traditional record deal.
I hope you enjoy it, I’ve had fantastic feedback from everybody so far, and feel really positive about the potential of the site. Please have a look around, check out the first blog post and let me know in the comments here what you would like to see, what you like, what you don’t – or, come and say Hello on Twitter. I want this to be genuinely useful to as many people as possible.
Cheers !
Ian

Congrats on the new site! I’m looking forward to reading more, especially as you’ve opened up the topic more broad than mastering.
My mastering education is: trust your mastering engineer. And while I enjoy learning about it, it’s not necessarily directly applicable to the indie-recording artist.
And here we are. Cheers.
