Who needs a recording studio, anyway ?
For many of us, the ultimate goal is a recording studio all of our own. But how much sense does that really make ? A single room (or two) that always sounds the same, always sounds controlled, and clean, and normal...
I've written before about getting some real space in your mix - by which I mean, don't always go for a really clean, dry sound - but in the video above, producer Ronan Chris Murphy takes this to a whole other level, with superb results - especially the vocal recording towards the end. (Skip to 8'45" if you're impatient)
I don't want to spoil it by writing about it - just watch and enjoy.
I can't adding this video to the post, which makes the same point in a very different way !
